What is white lithium grease spray used for?

White lithium grease is what you reach for when two pieces of metal have to keep sliding against each other without wearing out. White Knight is a heavy-duty version in a spray can, so it gets into the pivot without you pulling the assembly apart. It lubricates and protects against corrosion in the same pass. Where it earns its keep:

  • Door and hood hinges
  • Tailgate hinges and latches
  • Strikers and catches
  • Seat tracks and window regulators
  • Throttle and shifter linkage
  • Cables and springs
  • Any metal-to-metal contact point that squeaks or binds

What makes it different from a general-purpose spray lube?

Thin all-purpose sprays flush the joint and then run off, which is why the squeak comes back in a month. White Knight is a grease, so it stays in the joint and keeps working. The formula is non-staining and water resistant, which matters on a door hinge sitting right above a painted sill.

Where should you not use it?

Two places. Threaded fasteners you plan to take apart later want Excel Heavy Duty Anti-Seize instead, since its copper and graphite base is built to stop galling on threads. Lithium grease is for the parts that move. And on rubber or weatherstripping, Slippery Stuff Silicone Spray is the right call. Grease on a window seal collects grit.
